A mile along, the pub is on your right. Keep going another mile to the T junction.
Left, then the steel barrier
Turn left and we are the first property on the left. Use the steel barrier, not the wooden gates.
Four ways in, depending on where you start
From Chester and the east
A55 to junction 28Stay on the A55 past Holywell and come off at junction 28, signposted Trefnant. Follow the sign for a mile until you pass the Farmers Arms on your right, then continue another mile to a T junction. Turn left and the yard is the first property on your left.
Junction 28 comes up quickly after a long dual-carriageway run — get into the left lane early.From Conwy and the west
A55 to junction 28Head east on the A55 and take junction 28, signposted Tremeirchion first and then Trefnant. Coming from this direction the slip loops you back over the dual carriageway, so follow Tremeirchion rather than the town names you were expecting.
In summer the coast road backs up long before junction 28 — the A55 is the faster approach.From Denbigh and inland
A525 northStraight up the A525 through Trefnant. It is main road the whole way and the easiest approach with anything on the back, because you join the lane closer to us and cover less of it.
This is the approach we would recommend for a twin-axle or a long motorhome.From Rhyl and the coast
A525 through RhuddlanDown the A525 through Rhuddlan and turn off before St Asaph. It avoids the coast road, which is the main reason people from Rhyl and Prestatyn take this route in summer.
The turning off the A525 is easy to miss southbound — it comes shortly after the Farmers Arms.Lanes, passing places and one wrong turn to avoid
Once you leave the A525 the road narrows to a single track with passing places. It is used by tractors and by us, so everybody expects to reverse a little. With a twin-axle on the back, take it slowly and use the passing places rather than the verges, which are softer than they look after rain.
You will see road closure signs on the approach. They relate to work further along the lane and they do not affect the route to us. People turn round at them and ring to say they cannot get through, and they can.
There are two entrances off the lane. The wooden double gates are the farm's own access and are usually shut. The storage entrance is the steel barrier a little further on. Satnavs tend to stop you at the first one.
The site is open 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Self storage customers let themselves in within those hours. Caravan and vehicle drop-offs and collections are by booked slot inside the same hours, with at least twelve hours notice so a member of staff can have the vehicle out and ready.
What happens when you pull in
Pull in, do not stop in the lane
Come through the barrier and onto the hardstanding. The lane is single track and a caravan parked in it blocks the farm.
There is room to turn
You can turn a car and twin-axle inside the yard without unhitching, so there is no need to reverse back up the lane.
Somebody is usually about
If the yard looks empty we are somewhere on the farm. Ring the number and one of us will come out.
Collections are ready and waiting
Given twelve hours notice your vehicle is already out of its space and facing the right way to hitch up.
