Unit sizes and monthly prices
Prices are per month on a rolling agreement, with self-access 7am to 7pm, seven days a week. Nineteen rooms in total and only a handful of each size, so call to check what is free.
Small
Good for the contents of a bedsit or a garden shed — boxes, a bike, a few pieces of furniture.
Medium
Good for a one-bed flat — a sofa, a bed, white goods and the boxes to go with them.
Large
Good for a two-bed house, a car's worth of gear, or a small business's stock and paperwork.

Who uses the units, and how it works
Most people who take a room here are between houses, clearing space at home, or keeping things for a holiday home or a small business. Nothing about it is complicated: you pick a size, pay by the month, and come and go when you need to.

- CCTV across the site and a gated entrance, on a CaSSOA Gold yard where the owners live
Twenty-eight cows, nineteen rooms
The units are in the old shippon — the cowshed on the farm. When the owner first looked round it, about ten years ago, it still had twenty-eight cows in it. The stone walls and the roof are the same ones the herd stood under; what has changed is everything inside.
It has since been converted into nineteen dry, secure storage rooms, each one named after one of the cows that lived there. It is a small thing, but it means each room has a name people remember rather than a number nobody does.

The brick walls and the roofline are the ones the herd stood under. The rooflights, the doors and the rooms behind them are all new.
